Turmeric milk or Golden milk recipe

I recently discover turmeric milk and I have to share this with you.

Ever have that uncomfortable feeling of still being full or your have an upset stomach right before going to bed?

This could happen if you ate to much or your evening meal was too heavy.

Poor digestion during the period after your evening meal can lead to acid reflux and heartburn. It can also be the cause of a disrupted sleep.

The following recipe for turmeric milk is an easy, simple solution to resolve any of these unease’s. Turmeric milk is a completely natural drink. Besides turmeric, this drink also contains ginger and coconut milk. This combination makes it an excellent anti-inflammatory potion. If you drink this before going to bed it will boost your digestion and prevent heartburn and acid reflux.

These ingredients in themselves are already known for their extraordinary health benefits.

Turmeric

Turmeric is a spice that is often used as a food flavoring in Asian dishes. It belongs to the ginger family. Other names for Turmeric are as Indian saffron, jiang huang, haridra, haldi.

It is the main ingredient in curry powder. You probably also know it as a bright yellow orange food coloring agent (E100).

Turmeric grows in many Asian countries such as India. It has been used for many years in some herbal remedies. The main active ingredient is curcumin or diferuloyl methane.

Currently there is no research evidence to show that turmeric or curcumin can prevent or treat cancer but early trials have shown some promising results.

Be careful in using Turmeric in combination with other medication. It is known for thinning the blood, so be cautious using it while using blood thinners.

The major properties of turmeric are:

  • Ease arthritis pain
  • Anti inflammatory
  • Detox the liver
  • Stimulate bile flow
  • Increases blood flow
  • Thinning the blood
  • Supports the digestive tract
  • Ease pain from illness
  • Cure for cancer

Ginger

Ginger is the perfect remedy for upset stomach, viral infection, infected throat and colds. It can improve your immunity.

Ginger reduces pain in people who suffer from osteoarthritis (OA), according to a study published in the journal Osteoarthritis and Cartilage in 2005.

Early research hints that ginger could fight cancer too. In 2006, University of Michigan researchers learned that ground ginger can kill ovarian cancer cells.

A study published in 2008 in the Saudi Medical Journal indicates ginger may also benefit heart health.

Coconut milk

I have recently written a blog post on coconut oil, but don’t underestimate the healing power of coconut milk. What makes coconut milk great is that it contains a lot of healthy fats and possesses antimicrobials properties. It may eventually prevent the digestion and stomach problems induced by bacteria.

Black pepper

Black pepper aids in turmeric’s bioavailability and absorption of curcumin, the main ingredient in turmeric.

Honey

Honey is loaded with amino acids, enzymes, minerals and vitamins. All these ingredients can boost digestion and ease irritation in the digestive system.

Recipe

Ingredients

  • Two cups coconut milk
  • One teaspoon turmeric
  • One inch piece of sliced and fresh ginger root or one teaspoon ginger powder
  • One-quarter teaspoon ground black pepper
  • One tablespoon organic honey

Preparation

Mix the turmeric, coconut milk, ginger and black pepper in a small sauce pan. Heat the mixture to a low boiling. Reduce the heat and cook it for 5 min. Poor your drink in a cup, add the honey and drink it warm.

You can make this simple recipe easily yourselves. It is a very powerful remedy against stomach issues at night. Turmeric milk will aid your digestion tremendously.

Drink this an hour before you go to bed. You will fall asleep as soon as you hit your bed and you will wake up refreshed and loaded with energy.

I am Rishma, founder and admin of detoxtolive.com. I have been having health issues all my live. I have been in and out of hospitals all over Holland and have seen more specialists then I care to remember. In the end I got diagnosed with Aspergers and Fibromyalgia. Of course the healthcare system can give you all kinds of diagnoses and usually the answer is, we can’t make you healthy, but we will give you medicine that might help you, they might have all kinds of side effects and you need to keep taking them for the rest of your life. I didn’t really feel much to sign up for that. I wanted to know what the underlying cause was and the regular healthcare system was not able to answer my questions. So I went of on this quest of trying to find answers. And the more I started digging, the more questions I got. I did find some answers though. I started realizing that in all these so called western diseases, our immune system seemed to play a major role. Our bodies are under attack and in a lot of cases it is no longer able to defend itself. That is where detox comes in, no matter what protocol I followed or follow, detoxing is always a factor. And it is not just the physical body that needs detoxing. The negative influences come from all sides, and they do not always show them selves clearly.
